FERNANDO PULLUM COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER

Fernando Pullum Community Arts

Our grant for $25,000 provides musical instruments and accessories for students attending this South Central after-school arts Center. 80 students per year, participating in the band will have access to 33 new drums and 8 new brass instruments. The Pullum Center offers free after-school classes to 850 children in South Los Angeles. It also serves as a community center and teaches kids self-esteem, gives them a support system, and requires them to participate in community service by feeding the homeless and performing at senior living facilities. Our grant will allow 80 more children per year to participate in band classes and events. It will also allow kids to start drums at a younger age because the existing equipment is too heavy for them.
