MAKE GOOD/THE BOOK INC.
Our grant for $9275 provides an outdoor oasis/workshop/collaborative space with furniture, coverage from the elements, and greenery that will be conducive to holding workshops and distributing new clothing, books, and essentials to foster youth. Approximately 5000 youth will participate in life-skills workshops that include financial literacy, interviewing, and resume skills. In addition, youth have the opportunity to “shop” for new clothing, essentials, and books that they can select themselves free of charge. Currently, Make Good’s outdoor space is an uninviting, minimalistic parking lot that does not accommodate all their needs for workshops and staging/distributing clothing and essential items to youth. The enhancements and a more inviting space will allow Make Good to expand the number of workshops they can hold and will attract more youth. The ability for youth to have these workshop training experiences and to select clothing items that aren’t used hand-me-downs, is truly empowering and transformative.
