BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF THE WEST VALLEY
Our grant for $25,000 funds the purchase of 2 interactive fitness systems to enhance the athletics/sports/recreation program at the Boys and Girls Club of the West Valley. BGCWV inspires and empowers youth, especially from underserved communities, to realize their full potential by increasing their educational achievement, improving their personal development, and shaping their futures. 350 youth, ages 6-17, will use the SMART fit and IDance fitness systems as part of the physical fitness program in Canoga Park, where there are few youth development programs. The Club already has athletic programs, but these systems will enhance the program by appealing to the kids who like physical activity, but also to the kids who are less athletically inclined and more interested in technology and gaming. These unique systems stimulate both cognitive and physical effort, and more children will join in and the amount of time they exercise will increase.
