MYCHAL'S PLACE
Our grant for $4,568 funds a piano and sound/lighting equipment to expand the theater arts program at Mychal’s Place. Mychal’s Learning Place provides the support, training and opportunities to youth and young adults with developmental disabilities to build their independence and pursue their goals and dreams, encouraging each one to develop their individual talents and skills necessary for them to interact and contribute to society. Approximately 50 youth a year participate in the theater program, which helps them express feelings and build relationships. The new equipment will provide these young people a richer experience on stage, resulting in increased self-esteem, enhanced awareness of environment, coping and relation skills, interacting socially with others, developing independence, improving concentration, and supporting happy feelings.
